Stop & Give Me 20- Episode 052- Dan John- Achieving Your Dreams with 3 sets of 10 and the Ted Williams Barbell Set

“I was 8 years old, and we had a little chunk of money so my brothers and I went to a very high end department store called Sears…  We bought the Ted Williams Barbell Set. My goal was to pick up that barbell with the 2 big 10 pounders on it!” Dan John

Thanks to MariGold Bars for sponsoring the “Stop & Give Me 5 Segment”

The Stop and Give Me 20 Podcast features 20 minute interviews with some of the World’s Top Fitness Professionals.  Each show will start with their story of what led them into a fitness lifestyle; the spark that fueled their passion to help change lives through their fitness.

It moves into the “Superhero Section”, where the conversation moves into 1) Who their biggest influences were growing up and who their real life Superhero was,  2) Who their Superhero is now- who in the world they look up to and who they are trying to emulate, and 3) Who they want to be Superheros to with their message.

We might discuss their opinions on what is happening in the fitness industry, good and bad, and where they might think it’s going.  Sometimes we find out some of the books they are reading and seminars they are attending and what their takeaways are.

At some point in the show we always do the “Stop & Give Me 5” segment, and that’s basically 5 rapid fire questions (not always rapid fire answers).  It’s a fun segment that we make personal to them to try to get an inside look about some of the things that they are interested in.

We finish each show with a “Letter to Your Younger Self”, where guests are asked to give their younger self advice.

  • Great interview, Dan. So many good points, especially about rediscovering the lower body (can you say gluts! on of the most important for keeping your back and hips strong). By the way, I’m also a fan of old Glenn Miller music. I grew up with my Dad listening to it. And it’s “Moonlight Serenade” 🙂 That song is especially sentimental to me since we used it as part of dad’s celebration of life video when he passed at 101 yrs old.
